FAQ's
While our Private Yacht Tours have many inclusions to make your sailing experience hassle-free, there are a few extra costs to consider while in Greece.
Your Private Yacht Tour includes:
- Yacht or catamaran
- Skipper
- Airport transfers
- Unlimited fuel for the week
- Damage waiver insurance
- Wi-Fi
- Local taxes
As we offer a flexible itinerary, guests should budget for mooring fees throughout the week. For approximate mooring costs, see FAQ: What are the average mooring costs?
As well as groceries for your group, you’ll also need to budget for food and drinks for the crew onboard. For guidance, see FAQ: Who will my Skipper be?
Based on feedback from past guests, we recommend the following ranges to cover mooring fees and groceries for the week:
Catamarans: ā¬1,200 ā ā¬2,500 (depending on vessel and group size)
Monohulls: ā¬1,000 ā ā¬1,300
These estimates assume a mix of marina berthing, mooring buoys, and anchoring. Actual costs may be higher or lower depending on your mooring choices and provisioning preferences.
All ages are welcome onboard our yachts, although practically it is recommended that children can swim. Additional considerations need to be taken into account when having children onboard, such as moving around the yachts, moving booms and ropes, slippery surfaces, boarding and crossing from shore to the yacht. Risks are clearly visible and additional precautions should be taken with children onboard, particularly for non-swimmers. Life jackets are provided for all passengers onboard and buoyancy vests are available for those who prefer lighter gear.
All Private Yacht Tours have a professional and licensed Skipper included in the package. They are responsible for sailing your vessel, creating your personalised itinerary, organising marina reservations during the week and much more. Most of our Skippers are of Greece background, and all speak English.
It is the industry standard for guests to budget for food and drinks for the skipper and host/hostess (if booked) throughout the week. They will rarely turn down an invitation to dine out as a member of your party, but they also wonāt mind dining separately. We recommend budgeting 40 Euros per person, per day for food.
Hiring a host/hostess allows you to sit back and relax on your sailing vacation! A Host/Hostess will take care of preparing small meals for breakfast and lunch, keeping the yacht clean and tidy, topping up groceries throughout the week, assisting with organising excursions and much more. The price of a Host/Hostess is ā¬1,180 per week.
Some of our catamarans have a Host/Hostess included in the price, this is noted under the amenities section of each vessel.
Food and drinks are not included on a Private Yacht Tour. Each yacht is equipped with a kitchenette including a gas stove, oven and kettle, making it easy to prepare and store meals onboard.
We recommend provisioning breakfast, lunch and snack supplies before you get onboard, as these are the meals youāll likely be at sea for. You can stock up at one of the many grocery stores located on the islands, and there is a small grocery store in ACI Marina, Split, where you can purchase any last-minute fresh supplies. There are a variety of restaurant options available for dining in the evening, and your skipper will happily recommend the perfect restaurant for your group.
Yes! Guests can pre-order food and beverages online through our local provisioning partner. Your selected items will be onboard your yacht when you arrive so that you can step onboard, relax, and start your journey right away. Enquire with our Sales Team for more information on yacht provisioning.
Each Private Yacht Tour is entitled to 2 transfers per booking. Arrival transfers are included between the airport and your hotel, or from the airport straight to the marina on day 1 of your tour. Departure transfers are also included from the marina to the airport, or from the marina to your hotel on the last day of your tour. We will be in touch closer to your departure to organise your complimentary Airport Transfers.
There are three main types of mooring options in Greece; anchoring, mooring buoys and Marinas. Anchoring is a free mooring option that allows you to simply drop the anchor and stay overnight in a secluded bay.
Mooring buoys (ranging from ā¬45 – ā¬75 per night) are great if youāre looking for a private mooring solution. Marinas on the other hand, provide access to cafes, restaurants, showers, toilets, shore power and fresh water, and are often a more expensive option (ranging from ā¬62 – ā¬300 per night on average, depending on location and vessel size*).
In our experience, a mixture of all three options will give you the best balance throughout the week. We find overnighting in locations that are a little further from Marinas and towns are generally more affordable. Most Marinas only accept cash, however some may accept credit cards.
Please note: The cost of mooring buoys and Marinas are estimations only, and will change depending on the size of your vessel, location and time of season. For a full guide to mooring in Greece, including mooring options and estimated fees, view our Mooring Fees in Greece blog. Whilst it’s not always possible, some marinas may be reserved ahead of time through your Skipper, however, a tip is expected by marina staff to hold a spot. One night of mooring at Split ACI Marina is included free of charge for all Sail Greece yachts and catamarans.
We recommend using our sample itineraries as a guide to give you an idea of where you would like to visit, and our Destination Guides to learn more about each location! At check-in, you and your skipper will create a personalised itinerary that factors in the forecasted weather and your must-see destinations. Please note, sample itineraries may not always be possible due to weather conditions and marina availability.
The yachts and catamarans within our fleet feature mostly double cabins with some twin/bunk cabins. If all cabins are in use onboard a yacht, the Skipper will use the salon seating area to sleep in, which converts to a double bed. Onboard most catamarans there are separate beds for the Skipper and Host/Hostess located in the bow. These are only used by crew in the event that all cabins onboard are in use as they are very small and basic. Please note that crew cabins are not equipped with a bathroom, meaning that the Skipper will require access to a bathroom.
Due to limited storage space on the yacht, soft luggage (duffle bags or similar) is recommended as these bags are easiest to store onboard and donāt damage our yachts.
Large suitcases can be stored at the luggage storage facilities available at ACI Marina. Storage costs are ā¬6 per item, per day, or ā¬35 per item, per week. To arrange storage for your luggage, please speak with a member of our check-in team.
Each vessel comes supplied with the following:
- Outboard Engine (with full fuel tank)
- Kitchen utensils, crockery and cooking equipment
- Dishwashing detergent and kitchen cleaning equipment
- Bathrooms have toilet paper, soap and shampoo and towels for showering
- Beach towels
- Yachts with a Nespresso machine will have a complimentary starter pack of 20 Nespresso coffee capsules onboard. Select catamarans will have self-grinding coffee machines onboard, and include a 500g bag of coffee beans.
When booking a Private Yacht Tour on one of our Catamarans, one Stand Up Paddleboard and 4 snorkelling sets are included in the price of your package. If you are booking one of our monohull yachts, you can add these to your booking at an additional cost.

- Sunday or Monday departure – check-in is from 3pm in ACI Marina Split
Departing Dubrovnik
- All departures – check-in is 2pm for a 3pm departure in ACI Marina Dubrovnik

You will need to make your way to the base marina by 6pm at the latest, and spend your final night onboard. Check-out is by 8.30am the next morning, as this allows us enough time to clean the yacht before the next departure.
Private Yacht Tours are suitable for couples looking for a romantic week away, families or groups of friends wanting to do something completely independent. If youāre looking for a cruise experience, view our Greece small ship cruises.
Together with your onboard Skipper, we use guest feedback to continuously monitor and improve our standards, ensuring exceptional comfort and cleanliness onboard. Each yacht is professionally cleaned and prepared by our dedicated Quality Standards Team before your arrival.
One Way itineraries (Split ā Dubrovnik & Dubrovnik ā Split) are available on selected yachts and catamarans only. If you are interested in a One Way itinerary, please check with our Sales Team for availability.
Please note: a One Way fee of ā¬350 is charged for all One Way itineraries. Mooring fees in Dubrovnik are not included on One Way itineraries.
