The yachts in the Sail in Greece fleet vary from economical to luxury, ensuring there is a vessel for every budget and travel style! Your average yacht is simple and functional, ranging from around 30 to 52 feet in size. It normally has 3 to 5 cabins onboard sleeping 2 people in each. Often the salon area will also convert to a double bed, accommodating another 2 guests, or a skipper.
Space Onboard

Space onboard a yacht is well designed and practical, with everything you would normally need to self cater and live onboard for a week. Toilet/shower facilities can range from one toilet/shower combination to four or more ensuites onboard more luxury yachts. Showers are practical and comprise of a handheld shower head over a basin area, with toilets flushing by a hand pumping action. Larger yachts will have more spacious bathrooms, and those guests sailing on a luxury yacht may even have electric flushing toilets.
A benefit of a monohull yacht compared to a catamaran is itās compact size. Sailing yachts are practical and are typically easier to manoeuvre in and out of smaller marinas.
Size is important when considering a yacht charter. A larger yacht, whilst having more space onboard, is also more challenging to dock in tight spaces which is important in marinas and small ports. Many yachts are fitted with a bow thruster as an option, which allows for easier manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Salon

Salon space in a yacht is typically quite compact, however it is ample for a few friends or family to enjoy a meal and relax inside. Each cabin onboard is fitted with a fan or air-conditioning (dependant on your yacht choice), which is a welcome addition during the balmy summer nights! If youād prefer to relax on the deck and catch the evening breeze, a yacht will always feature a cosy open seating area, complete with a table and bench seating, on the back of the yacht.
Setting Sail

Whilst May – October usually offer fantastic sailing conditions, all yachts are complete with an engine to ensure you can easily get from point A to point B if the wind dies down and youāre not able to sail one day. The peak of summer (July and August) can be a popular time to sail in Greece, meaning berths at popular ports can be in high demand. Spending the night on anchor in a secluded bay or focusing your itinerary on authentic, less popular marinas is a good way to get around this!
